Anne-Florence Surlemont
French, born in Rouen / Normandy, living in Germany since 1980.
I studied textile design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg and worked for many years in marketing and product management for international companies – creatively, solution-oriented, and with a sharp sense for trends and colors.
These qualities are also reflected in my painting: the joy of experimentation, the combination of shapes and colors in unconventional ways, and the blending of various materials. I transform experiences and inspirations into a deeply personal form of expression.
It is color that inspires me and leads me through each painting.
I observe and experience color in my surroundings. I am influenced by how colors in nature and everyday environments interact and evoke emotions.
Color is everything: it creates shapes and structures; it evokes feelings – and sometimes warnings.
This is how imaginative landscapes and dream worlds emerge in my work – images that lie dormant in the depths of my memory. Paintings that express my perception of color, or my longing for it.
Since the end of January 2025, I have also been offering weekly painting classes at the Bethel Regional community center in Bielefeld-Brackwede.
